When I take the chance of dreaming

Posted on April 30, 2016December 3, 2018 by Gabriel Lunesce

When I take the chance of dreaming,
I dream of

Pirate Librarianship

Illicit materials
Gathered
Offered
To all comers.

Clandestine sex ed
In the face of death dealing institutions
The Jocelyn Elders Children’s Reading Room
For how to love yourself
And others

History classes from the bottom up,
The names and places of the colonized
Of the resisting
Inscribed upon the walls

DIY Mental Health Book Club meetings
With photocopied mini-memoirs
Passed around the room

I dream of punk programming
In the Berrigan Book Basement
“How to douse the draft
(Updated for the 21st Century)”

I dream of secret places
For secret knowledge
Strength shared
Promiscuously
Information insistently
Pushed into a world
That denies it.
